Hydrogen - TÜV Rheinland and umlaut start cooperation

Together, the partners support the energy transition with a portfolio of hydrogen-related services.

TÜV Rheinland and umlaut will in future jointly offer services for the energy and raw materials turnaround. The aim of the partnership is to develop and expand innovative and sustainable services for the energy market and associated market participants along the entire hydrogen value chain. With their strengths and expertise as pioneers in the energy industry, both partners will support customers in their ambitious investments and efforts in the energy transition - such as projects for the development of a hydrogen infrastructure or biomass conversion plants. The initial focus is on the German market.

Andreas Geck, Managing Director of TÜV Rheinland Industrie Service GmbH: "We are proud of the cooperation with umlaut. Both companies are thus fulfilling their role as pioneers and supporters of the energy transition and security in all sectors. The partnership is part of our strategy to focus on sustainability and to expand our business with hydrogen-related services. We have close business relations with umlaut, a leading consulting and service company for the energy industry. Through this cooperation, we can support our customers even better in achieving the demanding climate goals in all sectors. Hydrogen is considered an energy carrier of the future that can effectively support defossilisation. Green hydrogen in particular has the necessary properties as a storage medium to further advance the integration and use of energy from renewable sources such as wind and solar power."

Dr. Martin Robinius, Service Lead Hydrogen and Battery at umlaut: "We have long been certain that hydrogen will become an important part of the energy transition and have accompanied our customers worldwide for several decades in the transformation from conventional energy sources to renewable ones. We are currently seeing from our customers that the pressure to transform to hydrogen has increased dramatically. After a positive feasibility study, the transition to implementation should usually be seamless. This is precisely where our strategic cooperation comes in. With TÜV Rheinland, we are now able to provide our customers with even more in-depth support in the field of hydrogen. In addition to the Hydrogen Competence Centre and the certification of green hydrogen, TÜV Rheinland has extensive experience in the field of hydrogen. Thanks to the practice we have gained in joint projects, we can now develop solutions for our customers even more efficiently thanks to our cooperation agreement."
